ABOUT:
Dr. Wen-Mi Chen received her Doctoral degree from the College-Conservatory of Music, University of Cincinnati; Master degrees in Music Theory Pedagogy and Clarinet Performance from the Peabody Institute of Music of The Johns Hopkins University, which provided the grand opportunity to study with clarinetist Anthony Gigliotti and Loren Kitt.
Dr. Chen has won several national competitions, such as Houston Symphony Ima Hogg National Young Artists Competition and the Landon Symphonette Competition for Young Woodwind Soloists. She also performed in master classes with Richard Stoltzman, Charles Neidich, and Michel Arrignon. In addition, Dr. Chen served as a program committee and a paper reader in MTMS—CCM Music Theory & Musicology Society conference, presented her research papers in the ClarinetFest, the Great Lakes Regional Conference of The College Music Society, and Aletheia University and National Sun Yat-Sen University in Taiwan.
